On 9th October, Anhui Wanbei Coal-electricity Group CO.,LTD and China Coal Geography Engineering Corporation(CCGEC) signed the contract for the exploitation of coal mines in Queensland, Australia in Hefei.
The exploitation zone of this contract locates at the primary coal-forming basin of Queensland, whose area is 924 square kilometers. The expire period of exploitation is 5 years.

According to materials we accessed, the reserves are substantial. We are certainly making an attempt to go abroad.
In order to break the barriers of development due to lack of potential resource, Wanbei Coal-electricity has furthered innovative development since 2004, and employed ‘going out’ strategy in the transformation of corporate type. CCGEC is the biggest coal-prospecting company in China, showing considerable advantage in terms of prospection and development of domestic and international mines, while Wanbei Coal-electricity has strongpoints in exploitation and administration. Hence the collaboration of two giants can lead to better utilization and faster development of coal resource, so as to break the barriers of lack of potential resources, forming industrial chain of prospection and development of resources.

A few years ago at the beginning of our ‘going out’ strategy, we tried to go out of Anhui and go to the whole country. Now we have achieved quite good results. This time we cooperate with CCGEC for the exploitation in Queensland, which marked the new period of ‘going out’ of China. This is a milestone of our development with respect to configuration of resources in a bigger room. After we sign the contract, the project will start. We will try our best to finish the prospection in 3 years, converting the prospecting right into exploiting right. Then we will formulate further decision in terms of how to exploit the reserve of roughly 10 billion tons, according the temporal and market factors then.
According to data, thickness of the coal layer of this prospecting zone can hopefully reach as much as 300 to 700 meters with estimated reserves of 10 billion tons. Since now, Wanbei Coal-electricity and CCGEC have completed the design of pre-prospection.
